Jose Rafael Campoy Favela and Cynthia Stuard Lindquist both passed away in March, 2011. We send our deepest sympathies to their families; they will be dearly missed. Email CEDO at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it US Board member, Dr. Lindquist 1947-2011 On March 16, 2011, Dr. Cynthia Anne Stuard Lindquist passed away after a sudden illness. Dr. Lindquist, well-known botanist and plant-life illustrator, was a member of the faculty at the University of Arizona. She served on the US CEDO Board of Directors as well as the board of the Tucson Audubon Society. Fluent in Spanish, Cynthia led numerous research expeditions into Sonora, Mexico, seeking to learn all she could about her beloved arid lands. Read more. Jose Rafael Campoy Favela March 16, 2011 also saw the passing of "Pepe" Campoy, Director of the Upper Gulf of California Biosphere Reserve and tireless advocate for the protection of the endangered vaquita porpoise. A believer in collaborative agreements, Campoy partnered numerous times with CEDO on a variety of projects. Ecology Community Center Project LaunchedThe "Ejidos" in the vicinity of Adair's Bay have launched a project that
embraces the spirit of community
Collecting trash now has a purpose, as the mountains of trash collected will be the building blocks of an Ecological Community Center. That center will become a gathering place for learning and for play.
Ivan Martinez brings enormous energy and expertise to his role as Fisheries Specialist. Hired in 2009, Ivan has worked with the divers and other fishers in various Upper Gulf communities, assisting them in their efforts to develop a viable, sustainable commercial fishing industry.
