CEDO welcomes researchers, school groups and other organizations to use our field station and teaching resources to support field work and hands-on learning in a variety of ecosystems. We offer the following resources to enhance your study of this ecologically distinct area.

The CEDO field station includes the Earthship Visitor Center, as well as exhibits and gardens. The main building, overlooking the Sea of Cortez, houses dorms, kitchen, library, lab and classroom space for groups visiting overnight.

Field Station Programs
We offer slideshows, guided tours of the local coastal and desert ecosystems, intercultural activities and the opportunity to contribute to our conservation and research through volunteer service. Click below for documents describing our field station programs.

TIDE BITS: Isla San Jorge

Consisting of three main islands and four smaller islands, Isla San Jorge is arid and rocky with no known native plants. It sounds inhospitable, but fish-eating bats, blue-footed boobies, magnificent tropic birds, and California sea lions thrive on the Islands. The reefs and waters around San Jorge support a diversity of life. Marine invertebrates of commercial importance, like sea cucumbers, scallops, mussels, oysters, snails and octopi as well as a variety of fish live in the waters surrounding San Jorge.
