Bibliography of Coastal wetlands in the Northern Gulf of
California
CEDO has produced a bibliography of esteros, coastal
wetlands in the Northern Gulf of California, as part of a larger project to
study the historical ecology of these important sites. The bibliography was
developed for those interested in wetland ecology and conservation, with
references covering a geographic area from La Salina, in Bahia Adair south to
Estero La Salina and San Francisquito, along the coast of Sonora. References
were obtained through August 2009 in compiling this bibliography. We thank the Mia
J. Tegner Memorial Research Grant in Marine Environmental History and
Historical Marine Ecology, through the Marine Conservation Biology
Institute for funding.
The bibliography of Coastal Wetlands in the Northern Gulf of California is available for download in Zotero, Endnote (X1 and above) and BibTex formats. CEDO's research mission is to advance and share knowledge
about the Northern Gulf of California and surrounding Sonoran Desert.
CEDO's long term research and monitoring projects are making important
contributions to our understanding of the region. They are providing vital data
to help develop solutions to preserve the natural resources of the area.
Ongoing projects include:
Essential Fish Habitats
CEDO's research program is
focused on the essential rocky and coastal
wetland habitats of the Northern Gulf.
We are interested in describing their ecological
function and the services they provide to
people.
Weather Data
CEDO
has been taking climate data for over 20 years and has a data archive initiated
in 1964 by by the University of Arizona.
This data set sheds light on climate patterns in the upper Gulf
of California and may help understand global climate change. Since August
2005, CEDO has posted monthly climate summaries of conditions at Puerto Peñasco, Sonora.
We also post current weather conditions in Puerto Peñasco, with updates every 10 minutes.
Regional Biodiversity
CEDO has maintained a collection of marine and
terrestrial organisms from the Northern
Gulf since the 1970's. Through
CEDO News, published since 1988, and
other publications we share information
on local ecology and biodiversity. Search the table of contents
of CEDO
News from 1988 to 2004.
Sustainable Fisheries
CEDO has been working with
the fishing communities of the region for over 20 years, providing support,
information and leadership to ensure the long term health of this industry.
Conducting Research at CEDO
CEDO provides lodging, laboratory and library facilities for
researchers interested in doing projects at our field station in Puerto
Peñasco. Additionally,
CEDO works to train the next generation of scientists who will tackle the Gulf of California's environmental challenges.
