Sea of Support
CEDO celebrates the biodiversity of the open ocean and the contributions of our many supporters through the ‘Sea of Support’ exhibit. This painted tile exhibit in the courtyard of our main building (Agustín Cortés) highlights the creatures of the Northern Gulf, from dolphins to rock crabs. You can join the “Sea of Support," contribute to CEDO’s facility growth, have your name displayed and help expand this biodiversity exhibit. Purchase your tiles today.

Internships & Volunteering
There are many ways you can participate from home in support of CEDO’s work, from data entry and analysis to writing and editing. We also need people in the field, collecting data and teaching. A year long education internship is a great opportunity to learn and grow with CEDO.

TIDE BITS: Fishing Village, Origins

Puerto Peñasco, like other coastal towns of the Upper Gulf , was first settled by fishermen who followed the totoaba, as it migrated north to the Colorado River Delta to spawn. In 1927 a freshwater well was dug near the old port allowing the seasonal fishing seasonal camp to evolve into a permanent Mexican settlement. The abundance of fish also lured in the American sport fishing enthusiasts and Rocky Point became popular with the Hollywood crowd as well, especially during the U.S. Prohibition era. Fishermen were reluctant to bring their families until this rowdy crowd was forced to leave by presidential order.
