Tucson Festival of Books, March 13-14

Join CEDO to celebrate our 30th anniversary at this free event held at the University of Arizona campus. We will have a table and booth at this year's celebration, and will be selling CEDO-related books and publications (some of which, including all the pictured materials below, can be bought now at our online Eco Shop), along with new 30th anniversary merchandise, including T-shirts and art prints. Authors and CEDO staff will be on hand to discuss their books and our work in the Northern Gulf of California. View our booth's author schedule below. All authors will be signing books, too.

CEDO will be at booth 59, which is located between the Bear Down Gymnasium and Main Library on the south side of the mall, right near the Ventana/Roche Science Stage. Click here to view a map of the festival.

Also at the festival there will be writing workshops, lectures and children's events. More than 400 authors are expected at the event this year. For more information on this event contact CEDO at (520) 320-5473 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or visit: www.tucsonfestivalofbooks.org.

Tidepool exploring is one of the great pleasures of visiting Puerto Peñasco and Northern Gulf of California beaches. Learn all about the abundance of sea life that lives within the tide pools and rocky habitats of the Northern Gulf of California, from oysters and octopuses, to brittle stars and sea cucumbers. An excellent field guide for all of those who want to get their feet wet, this book catalogs and displays the diverse life found in the intertidal. 2010_tide_calendar_front.jpg Dr. Donald A. Thomson: creator of the "Northern Gulf of California Tide Calendar," (our 2010 calendar is pictured on the left), and co-author of "Reef Fishes of the Sea of Cortez" (first published in 1979) and "Gulf of California Fishwatcher's Guide" (first published in 1981). CEDO's Tide Calendars are the perfect way to plan your Northern Gulf adventure, especially when you want to kayak or tidepool. Included in the calendar are the times for high and low tides, and information on new and full moons, when tides are their most extreme. Both books that Thomson has co-authored remain hugely influential. These two books are an amazing resource for scientists, divers and anyone else interested in fish species and identification in the Gulf of California.
