Recognition Awards Received by CEDO CEDO has been acknowledged for its excellence in research, conservation efforts and science education nearly since its inception. In addition to working tirelessly to conserve healthy ecosystems in the Upper Gulf of California, CEDO also is committed to bringing all stakeholders into the decision-making, implementing and enforcing of all regulations and laws relating to the region. Below is a list of Recognition Awards earned by CEDO over the past several years.
1993: Cielo en la Tierra-Annual Altruist Award 1995: Reconocimiento al Mérito Ecológico (Ecological Merit Award)-SEMARNAP (Secretary of the Environment , Natural Resources and Fisheries) 1996: International Award for Excellency in the Border Region- Margarita Mirandas de Mascareñas Foundation. 1998: Nomination for PEW Fellows Program in Conservation and the Environment. 1999: Sistema Educativo Estatal / (State Education System) - Baja California 2006: Reconocimiento a la Conservación de la Naturaleza-Mención Honorífica/ (Honorable Mention: Recogonition for Conservation of Nature) – SEMARNAT (Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources) 2007: Reconocimiento Dr. Enrique Beltrán a la Conservación de la Naturaleza/(Dr. Enrique Beltran National Recognition : Mexico’s National Conservation Award in the category of non-governmental organizations) – SEMARNAT and CONANP (National Commission of Protected Areas) 2008: (Reconocimiento del Gobierno del Estado de Sonora por formar parte del Mapa-Guía de Geoturismo del Desierto de Sonora de)/ Recognition by the state of Sonora as part of the GeoTourism Guide Map of Sonora by the National Geographic Society. 2008: (Premio UVM por el Desarrollo Social- Internaciona) / Youth Foundation, Sylvan/Laureate Foundation & Universidad del Valle de México 2008: Premio Nacional de la Juventud 2008 para el subdirector-Gobierno de la República / (Mexico Federal Government National Youth Award for CEDO Sub-Director) 2009: National Award of Ecological Merit (el Premio al Mérito Ecológico) – SEMARNAT
